Spec. Coll. copy: French 17th-century brown calf, with double gilt fillet; gilt ornaments in spine panels; gold-stamped spine title "Il commodo"; edges sprinkled red. Unidentified gilt monogram "FAVB" in center of upper and lower boards, within a group of four small gilt letters "S" fermé. This letter usually signifies betrothal or fidelity, suggesting that perhaps the book was given as a present to a spouse or lover. Purchase, Maggs Bros., 1999
